South Carolina boasts beautiful weather and comfortable temperatures most of the year, along with sand, sun, fun. The temperatures climb throughout the spring, nearly reaching their summer peak during the Father’s Day holiday. Along with the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean, the combination will have you and the one you call Dad heading to the Palmetto State and the city of Isle of Palms for a relaxing getaway this Father’s Day.

Beaches

An escape to a beach location like Isle of Palms this Father’s Day means whiling away plenty of time on that beach. The warm weather and waters of summer and the Father’s Day weekend mean you and Dad will likely want to spend a little extra time out in the sun and in the water.

Sunbathe, talk a walk, build sand castles with the kids, or plant a beach umbrella and enjoy a Father’s Day beach picnic or a good book. Splash around in the waters of the Atlantic for activities like swimming, snorkeling, SCUBA, or even more adrenaline-pumping and adventurous activities Dad will love, including like parasailing, wakeboarding, and more.

Golf Cart Rentals

Leave the rental car parked at your accommodations and hop on a golf cart to explore in a different way. Several companies in the area rent golf carts – they’re not your typical cart found at a golf course. Most carts are street legal and feature headlights and taillights, blinkers, rear view mirrors, and more, so you can cruise the road. The best part is when you cruise down the sand for easy beach hopping. Depending on the company, you can rent the vehicles by the hour, half day, full day, or a custom length of time that fits your Father’s Day vacation. Please note carts cannot be driven at night, or on roads with speed limits over 35 miles-per-hour.

Bikes

There are some places around town that larger vehicles like rental cars and our special beach carts can’t fit. Rent a bike and take a tour of the area, get some exercise with Dad at the same time, and negotiate those tighter passages for a complete Isle of Palms experience. There are a number of companies that offer rentals to suit the whole family’s needs and schedule. Choose from adult bikes, children’s bikes, and accessories including child seats or trailers. Rentals include helmets, but you’ll want to ask about other safety gear and accessories like lights, extra baskets, and other protective gear.

Dewees Island

If Dad’s looking for some extra serenity with his Father’s Day relaxation, pack up and make your way to nearby Dewees Island. It’s just a short ferry ride away, but the peaceful locale is a whole different world. Experience a place void of cars, stoplights, stores, and restaurants. It represents a perfect return to nature with Dad’s favorite activities like fishing, kayaking, beach activities, and even a completely untouched forest to roam.

Eco Tour

You and Dad will love learning more about the place you’ve chosen to call home for a while this Father’s Day. Strike out on a tour of the area’s salt marsh, tidal creeks, and even the intracoastal waterway running between Isle of Palms and Capers Island. Guided tours fill you in about the ecosystem’s plants and animals, like bottlenose dolphins, loggerhead sea turtles, and a number of birds. Some tours also feature activities like crab trap pulling and net casting. Guides will bring marine life into the boat for an on-board presentation before releasing the marine inhabitants back to their home.

Fishing

If Dad is an angler, he’ll want to get in on the many fun water and beach activities, while also being able to cast a line. There are a myriad of fishing charters in Isle of Palms and the surrounding area that will take you to a variety of prime fishing spots, including inshore and nearshore locations, or out to the depths of the Atlantic in search of your next big fish story. Most charters include rental gear, tackle, and supplies for a productive day on the water. Make sure to secure the proper South Carolina fishing license before heading out.

Golf

For the Dad who’s a golfer, Isle of Palms has a world-class resort course. Wild Dunes Resort is considered the “Best in State” for South Carolina golf by Golf Digest. The two 18-hole courses were designed by Tom Fazio and include breathtaking views of the beach and water from some holes.

The Links course was Fazio’s first design, followed by the Harbor Course. Practice facilities for both courses, including a driving range, are located at the Links course.
