Fireworks
Look to the sky this 4th of July for a fun fireworks display celebrating independence. The city fireworks show takes place in the Front Beach area, with the area between 21st Avenue and 3rd Avenue Sea Cabins closed for safety and set up of the display, starting at 6:30 p.m. Belongings should be off the beach by this time, but you can stay in the park for the show. Please no personal fireworks – they are not permitted in the City of Isle of Palms.
Beaches
An escape to a beach location like Isle of Palms means spending plenty of time on the beach. The warm weather and waters of the 4th of July holiday mean you can spend a little extra time out in the sun and in the water enjoying one of the main reasons you came. Sunbathe, take a walk, build sandcastles with the kids, or plant a beach umbrella and enjoy a patriotic picnic or a good book. Splash around in the Atlantic for water activities like swimming, snorkeling, or even more adventurous activities like parasailing, wakeboarding, and more that will have your and your loved ones’ adrenaline pumping.
Golf Cart Parade
The event has been around for over 30 years and encourages residents and guests to hop on their golf cart and join in the fun. The “unorganized” event has become a tradition dubbed the Isle of Palms Community 4th of July Golf Cart Parade. Decorate your golf cart or bike in red, white, and blue, be ready to catch candy or dodge the stream from water guns, and get a glimpse or pictures with Uncle Sam. Staging of carts starts at 9 a.m. near the corner of Carolina Blvd and 2nd Avenue, with a start time of 10 a.m. at 4th Avenue and Charleston Blvd. Set up on Charleston Blvd, Ocean Blvd, 9th Avenue, or Carolina Blvd, or near the end of the parade at the Exchange Club.
Golf Cart Rentals
Leave the rental car parked and hop on a golf cart to explore the island’s nooks and crannies and take part in the golf cart parade. Several companies around Isle of Palms rent golf carts, and most are street legal, so you can cruise the road, too, as well as cruise down the sand for some easy beach hopping. Depending on the company, you can rent the vehicles by the hour, half day, full day, or a custom length of time that fits your 4th of July vacation stay.
Bikes
If you thought your golf cart could get you everywhere on the island, there are still some places around town that even the golf cart can’t reach. Rent a bike and take a tour of the area, get some exercise at the same time, and negotiate those tighter passages for the ultimate Isle of Palms experience. You can also join in the fun of the golf cart parade. Choose a rental company and select any of their adult bikes, children’s bikes, and accessories like child seats or trailers. Rentals include helmets, but you’ll want to ask about other safety gear and accessories like lights, extra baskets, a water bottle cage, or bike frame bags.
Dewees Island
Everything you need for a fun 4th of July is right in Isle of Palms and the surrounding area. Experience extra relaxation and serenity on nearby Dewees Island.
