Charleston Harbor Parade of Boats
While some locals celebrate the season by parading through the streets of town, we celebrate by parading through the waters surrounding our town! Typically taking place the second Saturday of December, the boat parade sets sail on a procession along Charleston’s waterfront. Boats are decked out with lights and holiday décor to the pleasure of onlookers. No information has been confirmed for this year’s celebration.
Lowcountry Oyster Festival
Two tractor trailers full – 45,000 pounds of oysters roll onto the grounds at Boone Hall Plantation in January 2024. The delivery kicks off the annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival. The “Oyster Fest” takes place February 4, 2024, with tickets on sale now. Enjoy oysters, beverages, other food from local vendors, live performances, and more. You can even show off your oyster shucking skill in the oyster shucking contest! The 2024 event is the 40th anniversary, so be prepared for extra special celebrations, too.
Beaches
An escape to a beach location like Isle of Palms this winter means spending plenty of time on that beach. Sunbathe, take a walk, or run on the beach for some exercise, build sandcastles with the kids, or plant a beach umbrella and enjoy a picnic or a good book. Brave the waters of the Atlantic for water activities like swimming, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, or more adventurous activities like parasailing, wakeboarding, and more for an adrenaline-pumping good time this winter.

The locale is just a short ferry ride away, and the peaceful place is a unique change – void of cars, stoplights, stores, and restaurants, representing a perfect return to nature for your winter vacation. Enjoy activities like fishing, kayaking, other beach activities, and an untouched forest to roam.
